Who's your favorite Thoroughbred who never won Horse of the Year? (both one you bred, and one you didn't)
Slew O Gold (our first stallion) and Gorgeous (the only mare buried in our stallion graveyard, and the only one buried under a tree).
What do you do when you're not at the farm or the racetrack?
Drive my 3 children around to soccer, baseball or flag football games. We have 4 soccer games today (Saturday). Although I love to watch them play, there should be no kids' sports on Saturdays when Keeneland is in session. Or Derby Day.
What's the last thing you Googled?
Population of Cleveland (debate with a Cleveland-ite in the office)
Favorite iPhone app?
Do you have any superstitions?
When I have the remote, I always like to end on channel up, so if I want to go down one channel, I will go down 2 and up 1. Lorin (wife) still hasn't noticed when we are watching TV together and I try and do it quickly whenever I do it so she doesn't think I'm a freak, but then again we have been married 14 years so she probably already knows I'm a freak.
If you were roasted, what would people give you a hard time about?
Probably how abnormally tall I am.
What would you do if you weren't working at Three Chimneys?
I'd work in the Front Office for either the Chicago Bulls, Bears or Cubs (but not the White Sox).
If you could change one thing about racing, what would it be?
One central governing body.
Words to live by?
Every day we have our health is a blessing
What's your favorite/least favorite word?
Favorite word is bollocks – it has more uses than any word I have ever heard – as in:
You're talking a load of bollocks, you're a bollocks, you BOLLOCKS, You are the dog's bollocks (eg. bees knees), he got kicked in the bollocks, Oh bollocks, etc. Least favorite words are crisp or clasp.
Who is your industry role model?
I have many. They all know who they are.
Best vacation spot?
What was your best day at the racetrack to date and why?
1985 Kentucky Derby. Three Chimneys had bought into Chief's Crown the year before and I got to do The Walk with my Dad.
