Lost in the hoopla of Justify's Triple Crown triumph last weekend was another triple of sorts as the Lane's End stallion Quality Road sired three American Graded Stakes winners on June 9 – two of them G1 on the Belmont Stakes program at Belmont Park. Quality Road also sired two non-graded winners last weekend, raising his total for the year to 10 black type winners and seven AGS winners to lead all North American sires. Four of the seven AGS winners have won G1 races.

Abel Tasman, the Eclipse Award winner as champion 3-year-old filly of 2017, got the ball rolling for the Elusive Quality stallion with her overpowering victory in the G1 Ogden Phipps Stakes. It was the 2017 G1 Kentucky Oaks winner's first win since last year's G1 CCA Oaks.

Next up for Quality Road was Spring Quality, who won the Manhattan Stakes in an 18-1 upset for his first career G1 victory and sixth win overall in 11 starts.

Both Abel Tasman and Spring Quality were produced from mares by Canadian Horse of the Year and U.S. champion 2-year-old Deputy Minister, a grandson of Northern Dancer foaled in 1979.

The third AGS winner for Quality Rode on June 9 was Paved, who was winning her first graded stakes in the G2 Honeymoon Stakes at Santa Anita. The 3-year-old filly was produced from a Cozzene mare.

Quality Road, a G1 winner at 3 (Florida Derby) and multiple G1 winner at 4 (Donn, Met Mile and Woodward), has had five crops to race with 27 black type winners, 18 of which won graded/group stakes.

Bred and raced by the late Ned Evans, Quality Road entered stud at Lane's End in 2011 with a live foal fee of $35,000, which dropped to $25,000 in his third and fourth years, then jumped back to $35,000 for 2015-'17. That fee doubled to $70,000 in 2018. Quality Road was produced from a mare by the Australian-bred Strawberry Road.

Quality Road's two other G1 winners this year are Triple Bend winner City of Light and La Troienne winner Salty.
