A private luncheon awaits you and up to nine of your closest friends in Ashford Stud's stunning boardroom in central Kentucky, after which a professional photographer will capture the moment that you all meet the Triple Crown-winning stallion American Pharoah. Known almost as well for his kind nature as he is for his exploits on the racetrack, American Pharoah's connections generously donated this once-in-a-lifetime Thoroughbred experience to benefit the YMCA of Central Kentucky.
Just three days remain in an ebay.com online auction to win this exclusive opportunity: the auction ends Saturday, July 2 at 12:25 p.m. The luncheon will take place at Ashford Stud in Versailles, KY on Aug. 6, 2016 at 11:30 a.m.
“Lunch with American Pharoah” is the brainchild of YMCA District Executive Director David Elsen. YMCA board member and owner of Hidden Brook Farm Dan Hall spoke with Dermot Ryan, manager of Coolmore's Ashford Stud, to organize the event, which the YMCA hopes will be as successful as it's “Date with Zenyatta” package was in 2011.
“More men have walked on the moon, than horses have won the Triple Crown,” said Elsen. “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a meet and greet with a once in a lifetime horse.”
One-hundred percent of the winning bid will go to the Y's scholarship fund.
The YMCA is not just a place for working out or swimming, in any of its three central Kentucky locations. Money from fundraisers like this one help pay financial assistance for families and young men and women who can not afford membership, so that no one is ever turned away. Last year, the Central Kentucky YMCA awarded over $1 million in financial assistance. Historically, the organization is one of the top five recipients of the Keeneland Foundation's charitable giving.
