Dr. Kendall Hansen pledges percent of Derby winnings to ThoroFan
When last year’s 2-year-old-horse-of-the-year, Hansen, enters the gate to run in the 138th Kentucky Derby he will, of course, be running to win, and if things work out, he’ll also be helping to support the development of the Thoroughbred racing fan base.
ThoroFan Chairman, Michael Amo, announced that he has been contacted by Dr. Kendall Hansen, owner of Hansen, who has made the Thoroughbred Racing Fan Association, Inc. (ThoroFan) an incredibly generous offer. In an e-mail received on April 19′” through www.thorofan.com. Dr. Hansen wrote, “Let me know if there is anything I can do for your great organization.” In a subsequent e-mail, Hansen’s owner offered some help.
Referencing potential winnings from Hansen on May 5th at Churchill Downs, Dr. Hansen wrote, “I will donate 1% of my share of the winnings from the Kentucky Derby.” Amo said, “Dr. Hansen’s offer and willingness to help build the racing fan base – a major goal of ThoroFan- is just the thing that is needed. Members of ThoroFan, especially the Kentucky Chapter, will be out in full force cheering for our newest member, Hansen”.
Dr. Hansen, also, said that he … “can raise awareness through speaking up about the two charities Hansen will be running for in the Derby-ThoroFan and New Vocations. New Vocations is an organization that works to find retired race horses new professions.
ThoroFan is a national, non-profit Thoroughbred Racing Fan Association, Inc. which was established in 2008 to retain and enrich existing fans, seek out and attract new fans and give each fan, regardless of involvement, a voice to the industry
