Starship Truffles rocketed to an unexpected win in the Grade 1 Princess Rooney Handicap on Saturday at Calder Race Course, trouncing a late-starting Judy the Beauty. Edgard Zayas was in the irons for trainer Marty Wolfson and owner Chasing Tails Stables. After breaking on top, the filly shuffled back briefly to fourth before taking the lead back at the half-mile pole and drawing off by 3 ¾ lengths at the wire.
Starship Truffles is a 4-year-old filly bred in Kentucky by Sanford and Irwin Goldfarb. She is the daughter of Ghostzapper and Not For Love mare Bobbie Use.
Judy the Beauty was second, followed by My Pal Chrisy. The final time for the six furlongs was 1:10.57. See the full chart here.
