Ruler On Ice rallied in deep stretch to collar longtime leader Spa City Fever on his way to winning a one-mile allowance race by three-quarters of a length at Aqueduct Jan. 30.

The victory by the 5-year-old gelding broke a nine-race losing streak that dated back to his 2011 Belmont Stakes victory.

“Whew,” trainer Kelly Breen told the Daily Racing Form after the race. “It’s nice to be back in the winner’s circle with a classic winner. I thought he would have been a little short going into it, but I think his class showed.”

Breen indicated that Ruler On Ice would remain stabled at Belmont Park, but was unsure of the gelding’s next start.
