John C. Oxley’s Prospective battled stablemate Patrioticandproud the length of the stretch before edging clear in the final strides to win the $153,300 Victoria Park Stakes at Woodbine June 10.

Ridden by Luis Contreras, Prospective (Malibu Moon-Spirited Away, by Awesome Again) rebounded from his disappointing 18th-place finish in the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) to win by 1 3/4 lengths.

Mark Casse trains both Prospective and Patrioticandproud, who was 9 1/2 lengths in front of third-place finisher, Courtville. Final time for the nine furlongs was 1:51.08 over the Polytrack.
