Morning line favorite Prayer for Relief, under the instruction of Ricardo Santana, Jr., navigated a convincing win in the Grade 3 Prairie Meadows Cornhusker over early leader Silver Max at Prairie Meadows on Saturday night. The 5-year-old Steve Asmussen trainee picked up his first win since a victory in the 2011 Grade 2 Super Derby, which was part of a four-race win streak which also included the Grade 3 Iowa Derby that year.
Prayer for Relief is owned by Zayat Stables, and was bred in Kentucky by G.R. Aschinger. He is the son of Jump Start and Mr. Sparkles mare Sparklin Lil.
Taptowne was second, followed by Silver Max. The final time for the 1 1/8 miles was 1:49.96. See the full chart here.
