A field of nine 3-year-olds will line up in the $800,000 G3 Sunland Derby on March 24, one the latest stops on the Triple Crown trail.
The Sunland Derby offers not only a rich purse, put the winner will receive 50 points in the Road to the Kentucky Derby points standings.
Trainer Bob Baffert will send out two in the race, led by Shakin It Up, winner of the G2 San Vicente Stakes, and Govenor Charlie, a talented, but lightly-raced son of Midnight Lute.
Local hero Dry Summer will attempt to capture the first graded stakes win of his career. The son of Any Given Saturday won the Mine That Bird Derby at Sunland in his last start.
