Shortly after NYRA held an emotional ceremony Sunday at Belmont Park on the 10th anniversary of September 11th, the first race of the day got underway and was won by the 9 horse, Say Toba Sandy.

In the second race, the winner was the 1, Wishful Tomcat.  And completing the opening Pick Three in the third – you guessed it – the number 1, Haya’s Boy.  You can see the 9-1-1 Pick Three payout by clicking on the Brisnet race result to the right.

Ten years ago, Belmont Park served as one of the staging areas for emergency vehicles and personnel in the days following 9/11.

Less than seven weeks later, on October 27, 2001, Belmont Park was the site of the first major international sporting event post-9/11 in New York when it hosted the Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships.  NYRA was also instrumental in raising money for victims families.
