Pluck overcame the widest post position in a field of 13 and stormed home to win the Juvenile Turf Saturday at Churchill Downs.

Under Garrett Gomez, Pluck shot past his rivals in mid-stretch to win the one mile race over Soldat by a length.  The final time was 1:36.98.

Pluck is owned by Team Valor International and was bred in Kentucky by his owners.  Trained by Todd Pletcher, Pluck is a two-year-old son of More Than Ready out of the Ford Wood mare, Secret Heart.

Pletcher won on Friday with a daughter of More Than Ready.  More Than Real captured the Juvenile Fillies Turf.  Both Pluck and More Than Ready prepped at Woodbine for the Breeders’ Cup.

Madman Diaries set the pace, a half-mile in 47.97.  Rounding the far turn, he maintained the lead, but Soldat quickened inside and shot through an opening on the rail.  Meanwhile, Pluck , who sat far back early, came charging down the outside to take the win over Soldat.  Willcox Inn won a blanket finish for third.
