With the scratch of I’ll Have Another from Saturday’s Belmont, the bid for another Triple Crown winner is ended, as is NBC’s hopes to draw ratings from the Triple Crown bid, reports Multichannel.com. The network had planned 4.5 hours of coverage on NBC and NBC Sports Network on Saturday.  How NBC will handle the change is unknown at this time.

“While we are obviously disappointed that our show won’t feature I’ll Have Another going for the elusive Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes is still an iconic event on the sports schedule, and the NBC Sports Group broadcasts will treat it as such,” said NBC Sports Group spokesman Adam Freifeld. “We’re working now to adjust the game plan accordingly.”

Thinking these network productions would be more entertaining if they showcased the undercard as well. If TVG & HRTV would get off their asses and go HD there would be no need to tune into NBC.

they (tvg/hrtv/nbc) could start by show n the COMPLETE order of finish for a damn CHANGE???…people do like to know where there HORSE finished…nbc will get better as time goes on…n all fairness to nbc they did a pretty good job… we do hope they bring n some better minds to help put on “THE SHOW” n the future…

The very idea of untalented, overpaid, & arrogant media employees (“talent”) and executives ”scrambling” is hilarious.  Thanks for the laugh!

  • Really???

Frank Reardon,  NBC did show coverage beginning around 3:00 pm Saturday,  and yes they did show other races on the undercard,  it was on another one of their NBC channels,  they do have more than one,  you just have to look on your “guide” on your cable remote and search all the NBC channels.   remember,  they have more than one channel.

In Reardon’s defense, his cable system might be as massively disorganized as the clusterf*** FIOS system that we’re now using in the NYC area.  A 1000+ channel, and dozens of them are dupes; sports channels located across this spectrum – wherever the Verizion programming lunatics wanted to slot them that day; etc.

Just in case you need 60 channels to get the weather report.
