Three vehicles, which were the last of former Dixon, Illinois comptroller Rita Crundwell's assets, were auctioned last week for almost $36,000. Several months remain before the city will see the $10 million generated from the recent sale of her assets, which include her horses.
Crundwell was sentenced to nearly 20 years in federal prison earlier this year for embezzling $53 million from the city, money that was used to fund her Quarter Horse operation and expensive personal items.
She was transferred to the Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown Chicago earlier this month, where she will await a permanent location assignment to serve her term.
