Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) announced Wednesday that it had completed the purchase of Oxford Casino (Oxford) in Oxford, Maine, a deal valued at approximately $160 million. CDI’s acquisition of the casino property follows the approval of the transaction by the Maine Gambling Control Board.

“We are extremely pleased to complete this transaction earlier than anticipated and appreciate the timely action of the Maine Gambling Control Board who made this possible,” said Chairman and CEO Bob Evans. “CDI welcomes the employees at Oxford to the CDI family.”

If only Mr.Evans and Churchill Downs had the interest directed toward the crumbling and slow death of Calder Race Course in Florida that they have in this casino venture in Maine. Oh I forgot Calder is a race track something Churchill Downs really puts on the back burner. They just want the Casino next to Calder not really the race track which is so so sad. Little wonder BC has snubbed Churchill Downs for BC races.

      Harry,
Churchill understands a simple fact about Florida and Maine
They don’t have the dates and can’t compete in Florida
In Maine they have a market with no competition
They realized Hollywood park was a mistake
Calder just took them a little longer
To come to the same conclusion

CD will never get another penny from me ever. They went to slot machines and left the horse racing business.
