Another EHV-1 positive reported at Hawthorne

A horse trained by Bradlee Rainwater has tested positive for equine herpesvirus at Hawthorne, it was reported by the Daily Racing Form.

Rainwater’s horse tested positive for EHV-1 on Dec. 24, and was moved into isolation Barn 8, according to Dr. Dawn Folker-Calderon. Even with this new case, Illinois State vets are keeping the current timetable in place to end the quarantine restrictions on Jan. 9.

Now, why in the world would they NOT extend the quarantine after this new horse?? Do they just figure every track in the country is refusing horses from there so they don’t have to quarantine themselves?? This state appears to have dropped the ball at every turn.
