Like father, like son.  Five years before Omaha captured the 1935 Triple Crown, his sire, Gallant Fox, completed the feat.  At the time, it might have seemed like no big deal.  We know now not only how difficult it is to win the three spring Classics, but a Triple Crown-winning sire didn’t repeat Gallant Fox’s accomplishment until 1993, when Peteski won the Canadian Triple Crown for Affirmed, the last American Triple Crown winner.

After a pedestrian juvenile year, Omaha blossomed as a three-year-old and eventually would head overseas to race.  Enjoy scenes below from Omaha’s 1935 campaign from ESPN’s Jewels of the Triple Crown.
