Sir Henry Cecil back in fashion as Royal Ascot awaits Frankel

One might think that age 69, Sir Henry Cecil might be considering retirement, or at least slowing down a bit. After all, the Newmarket-based trainer has been in the game for over 40 years.

However, with talented horses like Frankel in his stable, and the start of Royal Ascot just two days away, Cecil shows no signs of slowing down. The champion trainer, who has overcome stomach cancer and whose stable went several years without a group I winner, has more energy than many half his age.

If Cecil ever does decide to cut back his work load, it might come as a surprise to some as to what path he’d like to pursue. “I’m very interested in clothes,” mentioned Cecil. “I’ve got a great friend who’s a tailor in London and I’m thinking of starting my own clothes design.”
