Santa Anita Park announced on Thursday that Tom Quigley, publisher of The HorsePlayer Magazine, has been appointed to the newly created position of VIP Player Concierge, effective immediately.

Quigley’s main responsibility will be to serve as a liaison between Santa Anita and out-of-state players who wish to visit The Great Race Place and be provided with personal VIP personal concierge services and benefits based solely on their level of daily play.

“This is another step in an ongoing process to improve overall customer service at Santa Anita,” said Santa Anita Vice President of Sales and Marketing Chris Quinn. “Simulcast players are some of our most important customers and we want to do everything we can to make sure their experience with Santa Anita is a positive one.”

“I’m extremely excited and honored to begin actively recruiting players from around the country in order to showcase the natural beauty of Santa Anita and to discuss with them the customer appreciation benefits of being a VIP Player,” said Quigley. “The historical and picturesque setting of Santa Anita will be seen extensively in the upcoming HBO series LUCK, and my personal goal will be to ensure that I provide our out-of-state players with an equally memorable experience while visiting Santa Anita.”

In addition to being the “Punting Publisher” of The HorsePlayer Magazine, the nation’s largest thoroughbred fan-based publication with 23,000 paid subscribers nationwide, Quigley is also the affable host of @Quigleys_Corner on Twitter, where he tweets his race-by-race paddock observations on a daily basis from all three major Southern California tracks.

Cutting staff left and right, from the marketing executive to janitors. Fans stood in line an hour for hotdogs on opening day because there weren’t enough cashier stands. The paddock crew was cut and there are unguarded gaps on the horse path through the paddock, a lawsuit waiting to happen. Yet they create THIS position? wtf

FRANK & HIS FOLKS CAN RUN HORSES & $ELL CAR PART$ BUT THEY DAMN SURE CAN’T RUN A RACE TRACK…SMACK HIM & WAKE HIM UP!!!…ty…

Add ambulances into the cuts Santa Anita made while creating this bogus position. Races were delayed yesterday until another ambulance could arrive after Eswan Flores was taken by the first ambulance. There should always be two ambulances on site. There USED to be two ambulances on site, at Santa Anita and Hollywood Park, where they also now have only one ambulance. But I guess a personal tour guide for a few visitors is more important than safety for fans and athletes.
