The preliminary hearing for Kelsey Lefever that had been scheduled for today has been rescheduled for Feb. 21, according to a statement from Pennsylvania State Police.

The 24-year-old Lefever is accused of taking possession of retired Thoroughbreds under false claims that she would re-home them and instead allegedly sold them to kill buyers who sent them to slaughter.  She remains free on $20,000 unsecured bail.

that’s the definition of evil right there…pretending to find a nice home for horses only to kill for profit.

I know this lady in person, and the stuff that is said about her is NOT true. She is a fine young lady, and is great with the horses. I had been to her barn on several occasions and not once was any of her animals in bad conditions. The treats them with love and respect.

        • African Girl

Yes, I am for REAL!!!! You do not know the whole storry……

      • equine

Sure, until she puts them on the truck.  Do you really think the reports that she has been seen unloading horses at the auction house are fiction?

If you really believe these horses were properly rehomed and not sent to kill, why has Kelsey not provided complete records?  i.e.,  Identification and name of  the horse, who and where it came from, date, time and location when she rehomed the horse and the contact information for the new owner and location of where the horse was rehomed to.

If you’ve been reading the Paulick Report for a while, you would know that PR is willing to hear both sides.  Have Kelsey provide you the documentation.  I’m sure there are people in the racing industry who would love to know the 120+ TBs found a safe landing.

What happen to not guilty until proven guilty…….I stand by what I said, and do not care what you think. She is a goog person and until she has been proven guilty, she is innocent.

wont be long now, she should go away for a long time. You can always visit her in prison, still better than what she did to them poor horses now isnt it /

Ditto.  Provide evidence to the contrary, including the current whereabouts of those 120 horses.  We’re listening…

I went with a woman to try horses at her farm. She had “at least 4″ for us to try. When we got there they were all either too lame to even take out of the paddock, or too skinny for us to feel right lunging them. There were multiple small dead animals on the property. I wouldn’t call that love and respect.

What was it that line that Jack Nicolson said in Prizzi’s Honor, “Just because
she is a hitter and a thief doesn’t mean she’s not a good person”

I met Kelsey about 3 years ago. We bought a pretty paint from her. My daughter and I have been to the farm where she keeps her horses many times to care for other horses in another leased pasture. We have seen with our own eyes the piles of dead animals. These animals died because of lack of food and water and proper vet care.  We have often given her rabbits and horses water. Kelsey is like a child who sees a cute furry creature and just has to have it, but soon loses interest. This past summer she kept 2 puppies in a hot horse trailer without water. Many of these conditions have been reported to laps and the humane society, but she still is able to keep accumulating animals. The criminal justice system needs to act so that this cruelty will stop. I don’t think that Kelsey is an evil person, but I do think she lacks the ability to feel the suffering of animals and people. I pray that God’s grace and forgiveness will cover her. “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” Col. 1:14

I am willing to give her the benefit of doubt. But given the fact the state police rarely get involved in this sort of thing let alone file charges and make an arrest with out very good cause. They must have a pretty strong case.
My wife and I gave this person a just turned 3 filly and colt a couple of years ago. They were both perfectly sound and nice enough individuals. But given the market collapse and the fact they did not have a lot of size and scope and would not have a lot of value as racehorses we decided to give them away. We could have given them away to some owner-trainer and hoped they grinded out a few dollars for us in breeders awards. Instead we decided in was in the best interest of the horses to place them as pleasure horses. We took the time and expense to break them so as to give them a better chance of finding a good home. Ms Lefever came to us by reference. She asked if they were tattooed and when I said no she said great I’ll be right over. When asked about the tattoo issue she said people prefer Tbs that have not been through the mill at the track. Made sense at the time but this had never been an issue with others we have found homes for. I also told her these horses were never registered so they can never be used as racehorses. In retrospect perhaps we should have thought this out more. But there was nothing nefarious about her looks or behavior. We are just not people who look for skullduggery in peoples motives. We don’t know what happened to these horses when last checked we were told they were going great.

I also know this girl in person, and she is even sicker in real life than this story conveys. She is a very screwed up individual. Instead of wishing harsh things about her, which would make all of us just like her, I will pray for her, because she needs it. She wil either end up in jail or a mental institution.

Well you won’t see skinny bad conditioned horses for slaughter so if you were at her place you probably looked right into the eyes one of her horses that was meant for kill and you never even knew it.

    • Dodge07ford84

I know of Kelsey from the auction for years of going there and she never came across as a trusting person to me in fact she was to cocky for me and I’ve seen her ride sale horses and never seemed to have a heart it became just a thing And it just didn’t matter I’ve seen her ride unsound horses that you could see we’re very lame as is sold they call em I’d say she probably started with the best intentions but just became oven animal hoarder so to say
