In an article written for The Sun, jockey Frankie Dettori admits that being a big fan of Black Caviar himself, he was hoping that the grand mare would win the Diamond Jubilee Stakes (gr. I) last Saturday…despite the fact that he was aboard the 5-year-old gelding, Soul, in the same race.

The champion rider is convinced that racing fans did not see the best of the mare on Saturday, and believes all the traveling that ‘Caviar’ did may have taken its toll, noting that her hair coat was a bit long and dull.

Overall, however, Dettori was very impressed with everything about the Australian champion, from her disposition to her size.

“You could hold a dinner party for 12 on her backside!” Dettori says.
