Courier-Journal’s Rees Named Kentucky Sportswriter of the Year

Jennie Rees, a veteran turf writer for the Courier-Journal, was named the 2013 Kentucky Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

Covering horse racing for Louisville's Courier-Journal since 1983, this is her second time to receive the award. She is also a three-time individual Eclipse winner for outstanding writing, first in 1988 for magazine writing, in 1993 for newspaper writing and in 2011 for news/enterprise.

In addition to her individual awards, she was part of the Courier-Journal team that won the multimedia Eclipse award in 2008.

Rees has also received the Red Smith Award for writing her Kentucky Derby coverage five times.
