Jockey Jamie Theriot, currently fourth in the standings at Louisiana Downs, will be forced to miss the remainder of the meet after sustaining injuries in a spill at the track Aug. 23.
According to the Daily Racing Form, Theriot was thrown from his mount in the third race when the horse broke down. He was transported to Willis-Knighton Health System in Shreveport, where tests showed he had three slight cracks in three vertebrae.
Theriot will be out possibly six weeks, but will not require surgery.
