A reality check: Dettori confirmed for ‘Celebrity Big Brother’
Earlier reports that internationally renowned jockey Frankie Dettori will appear on Britain's reality tv show ‘Celebrity Big Brother' are confirmed. The 42-year-old will move into the Big Brother house Thursday evening, where he will get to know roommates whispered to include a variety of personalities from Meat Loaf to Lindsay Lohan. Filming is projected to take around three weeks.
Dettori, recently handed a six-month suspension for an unknown banned substance, is not the first racing personality to make the show's cast. Famously quirky British handicapper John McCririck was a contestant on the show in 2005, where he shocked viewers by wandering the house in his underwear.
I hope Frankie Dettori is as good an ambassador for horse racing on CBB as I was,” tweeted McCririck yesterday. “Dettori will be the star of the show but nobody can rival my majestic appearances.”
McCririck requested and received eviction from the show in protest when he was denied Diet Coke.
Dettori will donate part of his salary from the show to the Peter O'Sullevan Trust, the Fortune Centre of Riding Therapy, and Direct Aid for Africa.
No word on whether his flying dismount will in some way be featured on the program.
