Donald Dizney’s Bahamian Squall posted a ‘bullet’ workout Saturday morning in preparation for a scheduled start in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Saratoga on Nov. 2. The 4-year-old son of Gone West breezed five furlongs in 58.85 seconds, registering the fastest of 26 workouts recorded at the distance under exercise rider Stephanie LaRicci.

“I couldn’t be happier with the work,” Fawkes said. “He’ll work next Saturday and ship on Sunday.

The David Fawkes-trained colt finished second in the Grade 1 Vanderbilt at Saratoga in August before checking in fifth in the Grade 1 Vosburgh at Belmont Park last time out.

Fawkes saddled Big Drama for a victory in the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Churchill Downs. Big Drama was voted the Eclipse Award champion sprinter that year.

The Marty Wolfson-trained Starship Truffles breezed an easy half-mile in 50.18 seconds in her next-to-last workout for the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint on Nov. 1.
