Popular California sire Unusual Heat has once again topped the state’s sire list for the fifth consecutive year. Despite his age (he’s 23 years old), owner Madeline Auerbach says the son of Nureyev is full of vigor and still knows his job. His 2013 fee is $20,000, as compared to the $4,610,915 his progeny earned last year with 118 starters and 56 winners.
