Secretariat owner Penny Tweedy Chenery, jockey Ron Turcotte, and exercise rider Charlie Davis will be on hand to celebrate the Triple Crown winner’s birthday at The Meadow in Doswell, Virginia on March 29 and 30.

“It really is a historic reunion,” event director Leeanne Ladin told The Virginian-Pilot. “I don’t think that Penny and Ron and Charlie have ever been together at The Meadow, much less with the original grooms and riders who helped raise and train Secretariat.”

Some of the original grooms and riders of The Meadow will be at the weekend event, which will also kick off the 40th anniversary of Secretariat’s legendary Triple Crown win. Attendees can enjoy a cocktail reception on March 29 with a panel discussion with Chenery, Turcotte, and Davis. Saturday’s festivities, held on the champion’s actual birthday, include autograph signings, tours of Secretariat’s foaling barn and stalls, tram tours of the farm, and the chance to meet two of Big Red’s descendants.
