Pair of $250,000 Summerfield-Consigned Colts Tops OBS Selected Yearling Sale

Colts by Concord Point and Scat Daddy consigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, each brought $250,000 to top the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2013 Selected Yearling Sale.

Nick de Meric, Agent, purchased  Hip No. 75, a gray or roan colt by Concord Point out of Better Than Swiss, by Tomorrows Cat, a half sister to stakes winner Lyin’ Heart. Hip No. 113, sold to EQB, Inc., Agent for Zayat Stables,  is a gray or roan colt by Scat Daddy out of Great Venue, by Unbridled’s Song, a half sister to graded stakes winner Too Much Bling.

For the day, 137 horses sold for a total of $7,543,000 compared with 132 grossing $5,782,000 at the 2012 Selected Yearling Sale. The average price was $55,058, up 25.7% compared with $43,803 last year. The median price was $45,000, a gain of 28.6% compared with $35,000 a year ago. The buyback percentage was 17%; it was 25.8% in 2012. Twelve horses sold for $100,000 or more compared with six at last year’s sale.

The sale continues Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with the first of two Open sessions.

Summerfield also consigned Hip No. 57, a colt by Unbridled’s Song sold to Passion Stables, Inc. for $220,000. The gray or roan colt is out of Zehoorr, by Storm Cat, a daughter of grade one winner Nany’s Sweep.

Northwest Stud paid $180,000 for Hip No. 142, a colt by Kitten’s Joy consigned by Dapple Stud, Agent. The chestnut colt is out of Love Runs Deep, by Not For Love, from the family of champion  Storm Song.

Hip No. 100, Star of the Nile, a filly by Pioneerof the Nile consigned by Dapple Stud, Agent, was sold to deBerdt & Scanlon, Agent, for $145,000. The bay filly is out of Extra Holy, by Exploit, a half sister to champion Holy Bull.

Hip No. 146, a colt by Scat Daddy also consigned by Dapple Stud went to Hartley /DeRenzo Thoroughbreds LLC for $165,000. The dark bay or brown colt, a half  brother to graded stakes winner Bern Identity, is out of graded winner Maddalena, by Good and Tough.

Dapple also consigned Hip No. 173, a colt by Harlan’s Holiday purchased by JRita Young Thoroughbreds LLC for $145,000. The bay colt is out of stakes placed Powder Princess, by Gone West.

Sagamore Farm, Bob Feld, Agent, went to $140,000 for Hip No. 66, a Super Saver filly consigned by Perrone Sales, Agent. The chestnut filly is out of Ascot Staree, by Ascot Knight, and is a half sister to graded stakes winner Greeley’s Galaxy.
