The noble Thoroughbreds who have raced at Suffolk Downs deserve a second chance for a second career once their racing days are completed. Dedicated to finding them new homes and new opportunities, the horsemen are hosting a golf tournament to benefit the retirement, re-training, and re-homing of the racehorses.
The 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament hosted by the Massachusetts Thoroughbred Breeders Association and the New England Horsemen's Benevolent & Protective Association will be held on Thursday, August 15 at the Glen Ellen Country Club in Millis, Massachusetts. The shotgun format begins at noon.
Golfers may participate for $125 per person or $500 per foursome and the package includes all fees, tee gifts, golf balls, water and snacks, a box lunch, a buffet dinner, tennis, miniature golf, basketball, bocce, horseshoes, and more. Non-golfers may attend the dinner and non-golf activities for $25 for adults and $15.00 for children aged seven to 12. There is no charge for children six and younger.
Individual hole sponsorships are available for $100 and include dinner for the sponsor, and raffle items and charitable donations are accepted gratefully.
All proceeds will be used for the benefit of retired horses.
The deadline for registration is August 6 and forms are available at the NEHBPA office at Suffolk Downs and in the track program. The registration form may also be downloaded from www.massbreds.com.
