Unzip Me, who won 10 stakes races including four Grade 1s, has been retired, reports the Daily Racing Form. Unzip Me finished third against males in the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Churchill Downs. In January, she won the Wishing Well at Santa Anita in what would turn out to be her final race. The 6-year-old mare was sent to co-owner John Harris’s farm last month with an injury.

“She’s got some soft-tissue issues,” Harris said. “When you ultra-sound it, it gives you concern. We evaluated her and it didn’t look like it was the right thing to continue racing her.”

Unzip Me will not be bred this year because it is too late in the year, said Harris. Breeding plans for next year have not been made.
