Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm has announced that Violence, winner of the G1 CashCall Futurity, will enter stud in 2014 for a fee of $15,000.

One of the leading contenders earlier this season for the G1 Kentucky Derby, Violence (Medaglia d’Oro – Violent Beauty, by Gone West) finished second to eventual KY Derby winner Orb in the G2 Fountain of Youth Feb. 23. After the race it was discovered he had suffered a career-ending injury and he was retired.

Violence was trained by Todd Pletcher for Black Rock Stables. The colt won three of four lifetime starts, and earned $623,000.

Great marketing announcing a stud fee at the furthest possible point from the next breeding season. Next year, Violence will be all but forgotten about. Should’ve waited to announce retirement and breeding plans until further into the fall.

    Josh:

where did your marketing degree come from?

Central KY will be flooded with breeders during September. Many breeders will make decisions on who to mate their mares with at that time.

Saw the ad for Violence on TVG.” Undefeated at 2, winter book favorite for Ky. Derby.” Yep, I’d breed to him.
