Don Hargroder's Circle H Farm in Abbeville, La., has acquired Grade 2 winner, Lewis Michael.

Lewis Michael previously stood at Three Chimneys Farm in Midway, Ky. He is by Rahy and is out of the Broad Brush mare, Justenuffheart.

Lewis Michael compiled a record of 7-6-2 in 23 starts and earned $811,714 for owner/breeder Frank Carl Calabrese. During his career he recorded seven triple digit Beyer Speed Figures and won on dirt, turf and all-weather tracks, including a 2 3/4-length victory in the G2 Pat O'Brien Handicap at Del Mar, in which he set a seven-furlong track record of 1:21.17 that still stands.

He also scored a 4 3/4-length victory in the G2 Washington Park Handicap at Arlington Park, setting a record of 1:55.17 for 1 3/16 miles, which also still stands. In addition, Lewis Michael placed in five G2 or G3 stakes, won an allowance race on the dirt track at Arlington by 8 1/4 lengths and an allowance race by 7 lengths posting a 106 Beyer after the Arlington surface was converted to Polytrack.

Lewis Michael comes from a powerful female family. His full sister, Dreaming of Anna, was named Champion 2-year-old filly after her victory in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies, and a half-brother, Justenuffhumor, was a multiple graded stakes-winner with earnings of $533,900. His dam, Justenuffheart, is a half-sister to Kitten's Joy, the leading sire in North America in 2013 with progeny earnings of more than $11.3 million and 24 stakes-winners, and to multiple G1 winner and $1.9 million earner Precious Kitten.

Lewis Michael will be a “private” stallion for the Circle H broodmare band when we're not sending mares to Kentucky.

I hope he doesn’t just fall through one of the cracks. He is impeccably bred and was a good race horse.

I love Lewis Michael. When I was at Three Chimneys a couple of years ago, I was asked who I especially wanted to see the most …. my answer was Big Brown and Lewis Michael. They brought Lewis out first. To tell you that Lewis is a gorgeous animal is a gross understatement. There was an audible “awe” sound when he walked in. Please take good care of this wonderful boy.

The old eviction from Kentucky to the netherworld. The third TC stallion to be sent packing from the BueGrass due to poor results in the stud barn.

It’s sort of sad that unless a stallion stands for big money, they send them packing (of that’s how it sort of seems these days). I was super upset when After Market was sold to Turkey. He may not be a Tapit or an AP Indy…but for a cheaper stallion, he was pretty good.

It’s upsetting when any go to Turkey!

I really would like to know what happened to him. The last noted stud fee was from 2014…i checked their site and there was no mention of After Market. And Smarty Jones…he’s not on the roster for Northview anymore….

Turkey! No idea where Smarty is. He did ship to Uruguay to stand a few years ago.
