Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale ends with gains in average and median

The second and final day of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale continued to show gains in average and median compared to numbers in the 2011 sale. On day two of the sale in 2011, 167 horses sold for a total of $8,213,500. In 2012, the day two total was 157 horses for a total of $9,528,500. The average price increased from $49,183 to $60,691 while the median increased from $28,000 to $30,000.

Overall totals for the sale were also up. In 2011, 343 horses sold for $16,211,100. In 2012, 313 horses sold for $16,871,000. The median rose from $25,000 to $28,000 and the average rose from $47,263 to $53,901.

Day two of the Midlantic sale saw two horses sell for more than $400,000. The top seller for day two was a colt by Tiznow out of a Pass the Tab mare Horns Gray. The colt was sold for $470,000 to Zayat Stables. The second highest seller was a full sister to Trinniberg, a filly by Teuflesberg out of the Goldminers Gold mare Bella Dorato. The filly sold for $450,000 to Abdullah Saeed Almaddah.

Day two also saw a half-sister to Creative Cause sell for $310,000 to Steve Young. The filly is by Distorted Humor out of grade 1 winner Dream of Summer (by Siberian Summer).
