Acclamation was named 2012 Horse of the Year by the California Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association, becoming the eighth multiple winner of the honor.

The announcement was made at the CTBA’s Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner held Monday night at the Westin Pasadena.  Amazombie and Halo Dolly were the other finalists for Horse of the Year.

Acclamation, winner of the Eclipse Award as the nation’s champion older male in 2012, earlier had been named champion Cal-bred older male and turf horse, also for the second consecutive season. He is the first Cal-bred to pull off that “triple-double” in history.

Acclamation is by Unusual Heat, out of the Silveyville mare Winning in Style, was bred by Old English Rancho, is owned by Hilvers, E.B. and Judy Johnston et al and is trained by Donald Warren.

He has 11 wins in 30 starts, earnings of $1,958,048 and won his only two starts in 2012, both Grade I races – the Eddie Read Stakes (for the second time) and the Charles Whittingham Memorial (for the third time).

Acclamation is currently standing stud for the 2013 breeding season at Old English Rancho.
