Robert Marjanovich’s Prohibiting became the first winner for champion Midnight Lute when he broke his maiden by a half-length at Hastings Racecourse June 23.

The 2-year-old gelding covered the six furlongs in 1:12.72.

Bred in Kentucky by Mark Secrest and Gary Anderson, Prohibiting is out of the winning Tabasco Cat mare Blazing Cat and is a half brother to stakes-placed Catty Buddha.

Prohibiting is from the first crop of foals by champion sprinter Midnight Lute, who won back to back editions of the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (gr. I) in 2007-2008. Midnight Lute stands for $15,000 at John Sikura’s Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms near Lexington.
