Champion Hollywood Wildcat, winner of the 1993 Breeders’ Cup Distaff (gr. I) and the dam of 2000 Breeders’ Cup Mile (gr. IT) winner and sire War Chant, died June 23 due to complications from cancer.

The 22-year-old Kris S. mare, who resided at Roseglade Farm in Wilmore, KY, was in foal to Kitten’s Joy.

“We will all miss her terribly as she was always a pleasure to be around,” said Irving Cowan, who bred and campaigned the mare with his wife, Marjorie.

Just asking ,why would you breed a 22 year old mare with cancer?
Cancer and carrying a foal don’t seem to go together.
    Rest in Peace girl.

This was a fabulous mare.  She had a stellar record and provided some exciting races.  She should not have been bred after 18.  She left her mark.  What a mare.
