A noteworthy milestone occurred on Saturday when I’ll Have Another crossed the finish line in front in the Preakness Stakes. Not only was the chestnut son of Flower Alley winning the second jewel of the Triple Crown, but he led home a parade of competitors that received their early training in the Sunshine State of Florida.

The first five across the finish line at Pimlico all were broken and ‘learned the ropes’ at various farms and training centers in the Ocala area.

So what. Bad storyline. A horse can be broke and trained in Madasgascar. Means nothing. What the headline should read is all three raced and prepped at Santa Anita. The racing is what developed these horses not some round pen in Florida. Wake up dummy

Me oh my what’s wrong with you, what’s so offensive about mentioning they were started in Florida. It’s much more than round pen work it’s months and months of galloping, it’s gate work, it’s great weather, great training tracks and top human talent. The lovely track Santa Anita with beautiful weather was the icing on the cake.

California takes the Preakness 1-2-3!!  Take THAT east-coasters!  Must be something in the water….

  • Rnbosox

What a crack staff they have there!! Lol. No mention of the top 3 being horses, jockeys and trainers from Ca.

You Californians sure have an inferiority complex. The link/story is from a OCALA newspaper, of course they are going to tout the Florida connections to the horses just as Kentuckians crow that they are Ky Breds and you all whine that they are California based. Yes the California based horses are the best this year congratulations………..yeesh

I am sure Lonnie Powell will point that out as he tries to get the NYRA job!
