VEITCH ON RACHEL AND Z: IT SEEMS AT THIS POINT THE BEST CHANCE IS THE BREEDERS’ CUP AT CHURCHILL DOWNS
Michael Veitch of The Saratogian discussed in his column today the possibility of Rachel vs. Zenyatta during the 2010 season. While he admits the most likely meeting will be the Breeders’ Cup Classic, he dreams of a possible matchup at Saratoga this summer.
Do you think this is possible? Likely? Should Shirreffs dodge Quality Road in the process or take him on before the Classic?
Then come back to the Paulick Report and let us know what you think

So, Zenyatta is just going to show up at Churchill to run on dirt against the best horses in the world after running on poly most of the year ? Right……

Draynay, Dude, I always enjoy your posts. You are one of the most intellegent posters on the various horseracing blogs and forums. It’s good to see you here. I hope you do well.
Keep your Silicone Stable in good order!!!

Draynay, you left out the part where Zenyatta wins but otherwise I think you have it covered.
And Rachel Alexandra won’t be in that race, she’ll be running in the Lady’s Classic on Friday night. Rachel isn’t going to tee it up against the “Amazon” and the best males at 1 1/4 miles. She can’t get the distance against that caliber of competition.

Bradford,
John Shirreffs has already said that “it’s not about the HOY this year - it’s all about Zenyatta”.
What I really enjoy is that Zenyatta’s connections are doing exactly this - enjoying Zenyatta, and having Zenyatta enjoy herself - and then seeing the east coast fans and media just self imploded over this.
Those horseracing fans and turf writers in the east that denied and derided Zenyatta for two years now are absolutely dying of envy now.
God, I love it.

It’s funny how Z gets win #17, in one of her most dramatic and exciting races yet, but I’m seeing more questioning and disrespect than ever. It’s as if the closer she gets to proving her immortality the more the haters foam at the mouth. I guess it’s not easy being so adamant about something and then being proven wrong.
