"Dean eats at the Bob Evans buffet. What exactly are you talking about?"

It's pretty simple really. When Churchill buys an ADW for $80 million and sinks piles of cash into it, under a deal that they are getting the bulk of the revenue, then a horseman groups comes in and wants half of the revenue, they have a right to be annoyed

I am a horse owner, too. If I claimed 40 horses under the pretense I get 60% of the purse for my horse winning, and all of a sudden the jockey's union wanted half my earnings, well I would be annoyed; and probably broke.

If THG wants half of Twinspires revenue, in my opinion, they should pony up some cash for it and be a partner. They do not deserve to get it for free.

just what we need. horse racing on life support and the hpba wanting more money, that benefits who? maybe paulick will deign to give us some investigative journalism on these thugs at the THG. my guess, they have zero interest in horse racing.

The International Herald Tribune hasn't had any horse racing coverage since I took a buyout in February. Ironically, I still do write occasionally for the New York Times, the parent company, which still seems to have some limited funds for racing coverage. I'm still happy I jumped ship. Training them is much more fun than writing about them, anyway.

Churchill has run most of its tracks in the ground. The first 2 that come to mind are Calder and Hollywood

Didnt Churchill pay like $80 million for Bris/Twinspires? If THG wants to change the deal to get half the revenue, why don't they offer up half the cost?

I'd love it if my business partner or neighbor spends $80M on something and I get half the revenues for no cost, but I don't think I could find a deal like that in the private sector. If anyone knows of one, please email. I'd like to get in on that. That'd be sweet!
