Hurrah for Mr. Minor! "...it is not uncommon for proceeds from horses sold to to be used to settle debts to an auction company; those details are not disclosed publicly. Further, individuals employed by auction companies in various positions have had undisclosed economic interests in horses sold by the auction companies." Auction house employees in the Thoroughbred industry should not have an interest in any sale horse. What about the no live final bid on a recent high priced yearling? How is that possible when an auction house has specific spotters assigned to high bidders? Even if it was completely above board, the incident gives the impression that something was going on. Here we are jumping to changing the laws on steroid use in Thoroughbred horses solely because of public perception. What type of impression are we giving to outsiders when such events occur? We need to have transparency in all aspects of our sport.

Another disastor for auction companies on the horizon. Any 3rd year law student who happens to take Agency will learn the first principal of agency is that of the duty of the agent to the principal. You can't hide behind custom, or practice or that your daddy was a hardboot who specialized in fleecing rich people from NY. All the English accents you can muster and leggy young women with fine arts degrees from Sarah Lawerence can't hide a den of thieves. Hope Mr. Minor has a field day with this. Imagine it he were to really get serious in the thoroughbred business.
