IMPRESSIVE NUMBERS NEAR MIDPOINT FOR MONMOUTH MEET
The highly touted new look Monmouth summer meet has largely lived up to expectations with increases across the board. Daily attendance, on-track handle, all-sources handle and average field size have all shown significant improvements.
"To say at the midway point that this meet has been a success is an understatement," said New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority president and CEO Dennis Robinson. " We’re cautiously optimistic that the second half of the Elite Summer Meet will continue to exceed all expectations."

When are we going to see a day when they actually give away 1 million in purses?

For the comparisons (and % increases) they are looking only at 2009’s Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and holiday numbers. However that ignores the fact that option of going to the track on a Thursday and wagers being placed in 2010 cannot happen - but did in 2009.
They need to look at cumulative numbers and not ignore then fact that they did have wagered monies and attendance during the weekdays besides just Friday.
That money wagered on a Thursday in 2009 and the people we went to track cannot simply be tossed out as if it didn’t happen.
So, for example, week 1 in 2009 was 5-days and yielded an average of X attendees (or cumulative, however they want to examine it) and X on-site wagers. Then look at week 1 2010 (the Fri/Sat/Sun) and compare.
