Bull, it wasn't just Tampa. Tote insider is right, the stop command signal wasn't distributed to anyone near as I can tell. This is just the industry covering its ass, no one gives a crap about the bettors. Can you imagine if this happened on Wall Street? The SEC and Congress would shut things down immediately.

Seems to me with today's technolgical advancements that past posting would be a thing of the past. Perhaps there are those that don't want to see it fixed? I mean past posting, not the race or outcome.

Couple of comments,

Was NOT an isolated incident...happened all over the country. I personally know of two remote sites that were still open two minutes after post and *NEVER* received a post time message from Philly - even AFTER they learned of the problem.

Is not an uncommon incident. Autotote (yes, they're Autotote...only changed the name after the Fix Six) is famous for not sending post time - sometimes to all, but sometimes to only some, sources. They can't tell who they sent to or when unfortunately so it's a nightmare cleaning it up. This race should have been refunded as I'm sure many remote hubs called in to say they missed post but because of serious limitations of this tote weeding out the past posters would be impossible.

Please don't paint all three totes with the same brush...Amtote and United don't fall into the same bucket of crap as Autotote...no fix sixes, no fixed quick picks, no problems pricing the Breeders Cup pick six. Need to turn off a Quick Pick key? No need to send out techs to *physically remove the key*!!!!

If United and Amtote had PR people as good as Autotote then there wouldn't be an Autotote.

Racetrack integrity issues -- which strike at the bread and butter of the industry e.g. horse players -- have been overshadowed by the aftermath of the Eight Belles incident. This anecdote shows they're forgotten but not gone The ship is indeed rudderless.

Too many horses have their odds drop when they move into contention under a hold at the 3/8's pole. Been like that for years
